FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Mild again tonight before storms arrive Sunday

Look for another mild and muggy night ahead with overnight lows across North Georgia only dropping into the middle to upper 60s. This continues to be around 15° above average for this time of the year and more typical of late May and early June!

Showers and storms are expected to move into northwest Georgia Sunday morning and metro Atlanta by 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Once the showers and storms arrive, they’ll continue off-and-on for the rest of Sunday. Showers and storms will impact your plans Sunday afternoon and evening.

Scattered rain is expected to continue through Monday morning and impact your drive to work, before drier air moves into north Georgia Monday afternoon.

Everyone in north Georgia will see rain and lightning on Sunday. The strongest storms will be capable of producing damaging winds and isolated tornadoes Sunday afternoon and evening. No severe weather is expected Monday.

In addition to the severe threat, flash flooding is also a concern with widespread rain amounts of 1″ to 3″ likely with isolated higher totals. Because of this, a Flood Watch has been issued for most of North Georgia through Monday evening.

The rain Sunday and Monday is developing ahead of a cold front. Once the front moves through north Georgia Monday, cooler weather is expected next week with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s by Tuesday morning and 30s by Wednesday morning.
