14:31Now PlayingTemperatures will trend toward the upper 90s to near 100 degrees through the back half of the weekend into early next week. Expect mostly sunny skies for Sunday afternoon with highs in the middle-to-upper 90s and feels like temperatures near 105-109° across north Georgia. A heat advisory is in effect for the far eastern portion of our viewing area Sunday afternoon and evening, including the cities of Athens and Eatonton.
Monday looks to bring the worst of the heat with highs nearing 100 degrees across most of the area. An extreme heat watch is in effect for parts of central and east Georgia for heat indices of 110-113 degrees. Any heat index above 105° is considered dangerous as your body’s sweat and perspiration system cannot keep up with the heat. Monday and Tuesday, you’ll want to: 1) Limit time outdoors, 2) Stay well hydrated, and 3) Wear loose fitting, light-colored clothing to help prevent heat exhaustion.
