21:29Now PlayingA veteran DeKalb County firefighter who died Monday after battling a blaze at a Lithonia warehouse has been identified, officials said.
Preston Fant responded to a fire at a warehouse on the 2500 block of South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road on Monday afternoon, according to the medical examiner’s office. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
A DeKalb County spokesperson confirmed Fant was with DeKalb County Fire Rescue for 21 years and died of injuries he “sustained in a commercial structure fire.”
County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson has called a news conference to discuss this tragic loss.
