Bottoms said she’s leading in polling but is campaigning as if she’s behind and “not taking anything for granted.”
She argued she’s a “battle tested leader,” citing her time as Atlanta mayor during the first Trump administration.
She said she’d serve as long as it’s best for the state and her family, including potentially two terms as governor.
She defended her connection to Atlanta voters, noting she still lives in southwest Atlanta and is raising four children.
She said gun violence is a public health “epidemic,” blamed Georgia’s lax gun laws, and called for stronger laws.
She said she supports universal background checks and red-flag laws while also supporting the Second Amendment.
She said the GOP-led legislature deserves an “F” for not expanding Medicaid and argued expansion would help rural hospitals.
She said eliminating state income taxes for teachers (and potentially veterans) should be done responsibly without harming working people.
She said she wants casino gambling on the ballot, arguing it could raise about $300 million for education, including pre-K access statewide.
She said Atlanta created an affordable housing trust fund and she wants to scale that approach statewide.
She said she agrees with Trump that Georgia should address corporate ownership of housing, arguing absentee landlords are buying up housing stock.
