YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe Southern Poverty Law Center has been indicted on federal fraud charges related to its past use of paid informants to infiltrate extremist groups. The Justice Department charged the civil rights organization with 11 counts, including wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank and conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering.
The DOJ alleges the SPLC funneled more than $3 million in donor funds to extremist groups, including the Ku Klux Klan, between 2014 and 2023.
"The actions by the DOJ will not shake our resolve to fight for justice and ensure the promise of the Civil Rights movement becomes a reality for all. SPLC will vigorously defend ourselves, our staff and our work; we will continue to fight hate; and we will continue to envision and create a safer and more just world," CEO Bryan Fair said in a statement.
