1:21Now PlayingSpirit Airlines passengers and employees in Atlanta were caught off guard Saturday after the airline abruptly shut down overnight with no advance warning.
Travelers woke up to canceled flights and struggled to reach anyone for help with refunds, while employees say they found out about the shutdown through social media.
"I think the company knew this, and I think they should have gave us the information in advance," said Freddy Peterson, a Spirit flight attendant based in Atlanta for 10 years. Spirit says canceled flight passengers will be automatically refunded.
