The department's own Facebook post summed it up perfectly: "Turtle Tip #1: If you see a large snapping turtle, DO NOT attempt to handle it. Leave it to the professionals. Turtle Tip #2: We are NOT those professionals."
The officer eventually got the turtle to the sidewalk after about a minute of struggle.
