Ellen Greenberg was a 27 year old first grade teacher at the time of her death in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 26, 2011. She was found by her fiancé, TV producer Sam Goldberg, in the kitchen of the apartment they shared, with 20 stab wounds, many to the back of her neck & back, and a Cutco knife protruding from her chest. Although the Medical Examiner initially ruled Ellen's manner of death a homicide, a few weeks later he changed his opinion to rule it a su1cide. For 14 years, Ellen's parents, Josh & Sandee Greenberg, have fought to change the manner of death to undetermined or homicide, even hiring outside experts and suing the City & others, with no success. In a February 2025 settlement of one of the suits, a term of the agreement was that the City of Philadelphia would conduct a review of the initial autopsy. A 32 page report was released on October 13, 2025.
