SUMMARY:

Brian Walshe, 48, of Cohasset, is facing m*rder charges in the death of his wife Ana Walshe, 39, on January 1, 2023. The couple have 3 children aged 2, 4 & 6. The case is pending in Norfolk County Superior Court and involves many of the same players as the Karen Read case. Dishonorably discharged former Trooper Michael Proctor was the lead investigator. Ana's body has never been found. Brian Walshe is represented by Larry Tipton, Esq., who also defended Penny McGee. Walshe's case had previously been assigned to Judge Beverly Cannone, but has been reassigned to Judge Diane Freniere. Walshe made motions to suppress all evidence found in his electronic devices, arguing that the searches (including the incriminating Google searches) were conducted outside the scope agreed to by the Norfolk County DA (Lynn Beland) & Walshe's then attorney Tracy Miner. He further argued that the search warrant applications filed by Proctor contained illegally obtained evidence to show probable cause and all evidence obtained therefrom are fruits of the poisonous tree & should also be suppressed. An evidentiary hearing was held in which Bukhenik ,Fanning , Guarino & Connor Keefe (also key players in the Karen Read trial) testified. The motions to suppress were denied and the appeal was rejected by the SJC. A competency evaluation was ordered by Judge Freniere, and Walshe was sent to Bridgewater State hospital for 40 days where the evaluation was held. It has been decided that he is competent to stand trial. The final pre-trial hearing will be on 11/17/25 and jury selection will begin the following day. Trial is scheduled for 12/1/25 and is expected to last 4 weeks. Brian Walshe is being held without bail at the Norfolk County Correctional Center. The Commonwealth has said it will not call PROCTOR, but the Defense intends to. With the recent extraction of PROCTOR's phone, his testimony will be very interesting!
