SUMMARY:

On 8/26/24 Paul O'Keefe, his mother, father & niece filed a civil lawsuit against Karen Read, CF McCarthy's & The Waterfall Bar & Grill alleging wrongful death & negligent/reckless/intentional infliction of emotional distress, seeking compensatory & punitive damages, in the Superior Court of Plymouth County, Massachusetts. The case was stayed pending conclusion of the criminal case of MA v Karen Read, which resulted in an acquittal on the M charges by a Norfolk County, MA jury on 6/18/25. We reviewed the Defendant Karen Read's Motion to Dismiss and the Plaintiffs' Opposition to the Motion here

Since then, attorneys Alan Jackson & Elizabeth Little have joined the defense team.

KAREN READ has also filed a civil rights action against PROCTOR, BUKHEKIK, TULLY, BRIAN & NICOLE ALBERT, JENNIFER & MATT McCABE & BRIAN HIGGINS in Bristol County. The "house defendants" have filed a Notice of Removal in that case to Federal Court. It will be up to a Federal Court Judge to determine the proper forum.
