SUMMARY:
Kouri Richins, 35, was convicted in March 2026 of murdering her husband, Eric via fentanyl poisoning in a Moscow Mule cocktail on 3/4/22. After Eric's death, Kouri wrote a children's book , "Are You With Me", which she claimed was to help her three young sons grieve. At the time, her boys were 5, 7 & 9. Prosecutors alleged the motive was financial (her husband's $4 million estate) and her desire to run away with her handyman lover. She was millions of dollars in debt with her failed real estate home flipping company. She is facing the possibility of LWOP, but the judge could also sentence her to 25 years to life, with the possibility of parole.
In a pre-sentencing filing, Kouri's sons, now 13, 12 & 9, have expressed their wishes that she never be released from prison because they fear for their safety and that of their loved ones if their mom were to be freed one day, according to Prosecutor Brad Bloodworthās heart-wrenching filing which asks for the harshest sentence possible for Kouri, saying she is āirredeemableā and arguing itās best for her three young sons if sheās never freed. Sentencing day is the same day that would have been Eric's 44th birthday.
Richins still faces trial on an additional 26 charges in connection to accusations she carried out a financial scheme in a bid to steal Ericās $4 million estate, including taking out massive high-interest loans, forging documents and moving money through shell companies before she offed him. She faces charges of money laundering, mortgage fraud, communications fraud, forgery and issuing bad checks.
