The Last Stand: Community organizers push for cultural center honoring history of East Austin

Community organizers work to push a proposal to city council to build a cultural center at Kenny Dorham's Backyard honoring the history of East Austin. "This land is the last stand, it is the final battle ground" said poet Stacie Shea Williams. "We deserve to have a place we can come back to and remember that we were here." The proposed cultural center would host live performances, affordable housing and creative space for artists that have historical ties to the neighborhood.
