YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe Texas Public Safety Commission opened a meeting by hearing from parents and Uvalde community members on Oct. 27, 2022.
During the meeting, Texas DPS director Steve McCraw defended his agency's response, which had 90 state troopers respond to Robb Elementary on May 24, 2022 alongside other law enforcement agencies.
"If DPS as an institution failed the families, failed the school or failed the community of Uvalde, then absolutely I need to go. I can tell you this right now. DPS as an institution ... did not fail the community. Plain and simple," McCraw said.
In an exclusive Statesman interview in September, McCraw said responding police and agencies had misleading and inaccurate information during their response, initially treating the suspect as a barricaded suspect.
