Callies had his own career as a country music singer, but it was cut short when he lost his voice to the rare condition dysphonia that attacked his vocal chords. Decades later, his passion for the genre is undiminished, he watched with admiration as Beyonce''s "Texas Hold 'Em" top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs charts.
“It’s country, it’s a good song. I love it,” Callies told Reuters in February 2024.
