as posted by the channelThe owners of a home left standing amid the Palisades Fire say they are feeling "survivors guilt" after homes around were reduced to ash and rubble amid the LA fires.
The home, built with a fire-resistant fiber cement, a planted roof, and sprinkler nozzles that spray out Phos-Chek fire retardant, was designed by owner and architect Michael Kovac, who said the deign was built with awareness of California wildfires. Kovac evacuated the home with his wife, Dr. Karina Maher.
“We’re not going to turn the climate ship around any time soon. So in the meantime, whether it's dealing with floods in the Southeast, or hurricanes, or wildfires in California, we have to be realistic about what the threats are and design accordingly,” Kovac said.
