31:54Now PlayingBillionaire Elon Musk joined President Donald Trump in the White House Oval Office for the signing of an executive order that seeks to "significantly reduce the size of government" through "large-scale reductions in force." Trump signed the executive order beside Musk on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025.
The order directs the federal government to deploy Musk's "workforce optimization initiative" that came out of the Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency, also known as DOGE.
"It's not optional to reduce federal expenses, it's essential," Musk, wearing a black MAGA hat and joined by his son, X, said in remarks standing next to Trump, who was seated behind the Resolute Desk.
A federal judge in Boston extended a pause on the Trump administration’s deadline for federal employees to accept a buyout offer. Labor unions challenged the controversial buyout offer, and U.S. District Judge George O’Toole paused the buyout deadline indefinitely.
