"He’s the one that asked me to do it. Rick Perry. And I said, ‘Thanks Rick, that was a wonderful suggestion. I just got impeached over your stupid call,'” Trump said.
Perry, the former Governor of Texas, resigned in October 2019. House Democrats impeached Trump in December 2019 on charges that he abused the power of his office and obstructed Congress in his dealings with Ukraine. The Republican-led Senate acquitted him in February 2020.
