When your shame isn't healed, it will control what you do and don't do as your life becomes governed by shame-based living and behaving.
Childhood gives rise to a lot of shame. Neglect and abuse leave deep imprints of shame in the child. Adulthood can then be confinement where your shame keeps you living as an adult child. Healing your shame from childhood allows you to healthfully and joyfully mature into your functional adulthood and authenticity.
