This week, Briahna Joy Gray grills California Representative Ro Khanna on why progressives hesitate to call out Joe Biden, along with “rotating villains” Manchin & Sinema, for his role in obstructing democratic policies from a $15 min wage to student debt cancellation. Why should we trust Biden’s “heart” is in the right place on $15 an hour or the infrastructure bills if he declines to use tools in his arsenal — namely executive orders — to advance his own agenda? Is focusing on the good stuff coming out of the infrastructure negotiations merely giving credit where credit is due? Or is it ultimately a tactic used to distract voters from remembering all that was prematurely bargained away by Democrats who seem allergic to leverage?
