49:28Now PlayingThe Girl with the List: TikTok’s Secret “Birth Control” That Most Men Have Never Heard Of
What if there was a viral content system quietly reshaping how millions of young women think about pregnancy and motherhood — and most men had no idea it existed because it lives in “girly” corners of the internet?
In this episode, Simone finally reveals “The Girl with the List” to Malcolm. Meet Abigail Porter (aka Zoomie / Zumi), the TikTok creator with 1.6 million followers who built a brand around curating the most visceral pregnancy complications, birth injuries, breastfeeding disasters, and toddler chaos to “cure baby fever.”
We break down:
The psychological weapons at work (availability heuristic, loss aversion, and why negatives hit harder than cute baby videos)
Why this content spreads so effectively and who it actually appeals to
The original “Uni” list with 200+ cons and ~30 weak pros
Rising tocophobia (fear of pregnancy) and the mental health cost of overexposure
Abigail’s own life as a happy DINK, her Substack, merch, and surprisingly ethical approach to the content she makes
How couples can actually talk about family goals when one person has been marinating in this material
Is this helpful self-advocacy and reality-checking… or unintentional anti-natalist brainwashing? We go there with zero filter and zero sacred cows.
Whether you’re dating, married, already a parent, or just trying to understand the cultural forces shaping the next generation’s decisions about kids — this conversation matters.
