5:29Now PlayingMeet Charlie Roberts, tomato breeder extraordinaire, who specialises in growing happy tomatoes. He sings to them, plays music to them and tends to their every need with the devotion of a protective parent. Charlie's tomatoes show their appreciation for his lavish care by swelling with joy - in one instance bulging to a whopping 4lbs, earning a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
Even in death - for that, let's face it, is the destiny of all tomatoes - Charlie looks out for his tomatoes wellbeing; he takes the seeds from his record-breaking tomatoes and sends them to other growers all around the world, thus propagating them.
Charlie has even helped the humble tomato take its next evolutionary step - he has grown what is believed to be the world's first square tomato, perfect for fitting in a sandwich. He is now working on growing a heart-shaped tomato for his wife.
