In 1955, the BBC's Peter Haigh flipped the script on the traditional interview with the celebrated American film-maker Stanley Kramer. Although he had, at this point, produced several highly successful movies (such as Champion, High Noon and The Caine Mutiny), this discussion centred around those films that hadn't met with quite such a popular response.

As a film-maker, Kramer does not purely view success through the lens of the receipts: "I truly believe that it does not necessarily follow that a film which is unsuccessful at the box office is of necessity unsuccessful to the people that created it."
