3:45Now PlayingGrant Shapps said he knew nothing about the Conservative party general election expenses being investigated by the Electoral Commission. When Daily Politics presenter Andrew Neil asked "you knew nothing about this?", the MP, who was Conservative Party Chairman in the election campaign, said: "No." He added: “I was co-chairman but compliance wasn’t my side of things. The campaigning side was my side, but not the money and the finance.”
When asked who was responsible, he replied: "Other people, I don’t want to go into more detail." The party has admitted failing to declare £38,000 of general election expenses for accommodation costs, blaming an "administrative error".
