Speaking straight into the camera on The Andrew Marr Show, he said: "We've got to stop this now. We've got to unite"
He was responding to claims by one MP, Seema Malhotra, that an aide to the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn had entered her parliamentary office without permission.
He said the aide had assumed the office was vacant, following Ms Malhotra's resignation from the Shadow Cabinet, and had apologised for her mistake.
