6:06Now PlayingThe former President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai has told the BBC he welcomes US proposals for the creation of a new temporary, power-sharing government in the country – which would include the Taliban, and it’s hoped lead to a ceasefire.
So far though, the current President Ashraf Ghani has resisted the idea, whilst the Taliban say they’re still studying the proposals. It comes amidst a new diplomatic drive to bring an end to the conflict.
Mr Karzai has been playing a prominent role in discussions around the peace process.
He spoke to Secunder Kermani in Kabul.
