It follows a turbulent year for the streaming giant which saw a loss in subscribers for the first time in history and suffering a steep fall in its share price.
However, his announcement came as Netflix revealed a recovery in subscriber numbers at the end of last year, due to shows such as Harry & Meghan and Wednesday.
Latest Netflix subscriber numbers revealed the platform had 231 million customers signed up worldwide.
