With one in five people in the country now displaced, shelters are overwhelmed and many families have ended up sleeping in cars or tents. Among them are children, the elderly and pregnant women.
The BBC's Middle East correspondent Hugo Bachega spends the day with some of those displaced by this war in Beirut.
