10:55Now PlayingUS President Donald Trump said the United States has carried out a new wave of strikes on Iran, in response to attempted Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and against US service personnel stationed in the Middle East.
Ahead of the strikes, the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian had said his country was willing to return to the conditions of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the US and Iran in June.
Those comments came as Pezeshkian met with Russia's President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Kyrgyzstan. The Iranian president told his Russian counterpart that together their two countries could resist what he called “US unilateralism”.
