Simon Reeve crosses covertly into Burma, a military dictatorship and one of the most repressive countries in the world, on a dangerous incursion to meet villagers from the local Chin ethnic group. The Chin population of Burma, who are mainly Christian, suffer appalling human rights abuses at the hands of the Burmese military. Simon and his BBC team are among just a handful of foreigners to visit this area of Chin State in recent decades. When they heard that a Burmese army patrol had arrived in the next village they had to flee through the night to reach safety.
Simon's epic trip around the Tropic of Cancer is his toughest journey yet. The spectacular adventure takes him through 18 countries on the northern edge of Earths tropical zone. Starting in Mexico he travels east through the glorious Caribbean, to a stunning desert oasis in North Africa, across India and Asia.
