In June 2010, 31 year old Connecticut resident Jonathan Metz was fixing the furnace boiler in his basement when he got his arm trapped inside.
He waited for help, but after hours became days and infection began to set in, he eventually had to make the hardest decision of his life: Jonathan decided to cut off his own arm in order to save his life. He describes his astonishment when the pain of this extreme event was nothing like he imagined it to be.
