Kim Howells' love of climbing and art brought together as he climbs an escarpment in Tanygrisiau near Blaenau Ffestiniog on the edge of Snowdonia to find the exact spot from which Augustus John painted his famous 'Welsh Mountains' Brought up in the South Wales industrial valleys, Kim is surprised that Augustus didn't see the beauty in the slate quarry behind him. But there's no arguing that the North Wales mountains make for a stunning landscape.
