In this piece from that year, Charles Wheeler reports on Ted Kennedy's attempt to win the Democratic Party nomination. Kennedy was dogged by "Chappaquiddick" a car crash he'd had many years before, in which the passenger died. He went on to lose the nomination to incumbent Jimmy Carter.
