Mischa Anouk Smith, Marie Claire Features Editor, spoke to the BBC's Politics Live about women who want to have children but don't have the economic means to start families.

"Childcare costs are exorbitant, we've got one of the worst paternity leave policies in Europe, and maternal care is in danger... on top of that, one in four British mothers are pushed out of the workforce," Mischa says.

It comes as 2026 could see a "tipping point" where the number of deaths in the UK are greater than the number of births, according to the Resolution Foundation.

In the studio, Labour MP Perran Moon, Reform UK MP Danny Kruger, and Financial Times journalist Miranda Green debate this issue with presenter Vicki Young.
