Festival nation boss Melvin Benn has said he is asking the Jewish community to forgive Kanye West for his past antisemitic remarks ahead of his planned performance at Wireless Festival in July.

The controversial booking has come under scrutiny in recent days, with festival sponsors like Pepsi and Paypal dropping out.

Speaking to R4 Today, Melvin Benn stood by the decision to book the rapper, who has from bipolar disorder, but said “it may prove to be a mistake” that Festival Republic did not consult with Jewish community leaders beforehand.
