According to a report in The Guardian, landlords in England would be banned from raising rents for a limited period under the proposals.
Maureen Treadwell, a landlord in Hampshire, spoke to Vicki Young on Politics Live about reports of potential rent controls and the impact of the Renters’ Rights Act which will come into force in England on 1 May.
She said the new measures could push some landlords into financial difficulty and make the rental market less affordable.
Labour MP Rebecca Long-Bailey MP, Conservative MP Sir Bernard Jenkin and Plaid Cymru MP Liz Saville Roberts also joined the discussion.
