The Conservatives have said that some criminals should be given a ‘restricted payment card’ rather than benefits.

“Criminals, who either have community sentences or have been released from jail on licence, and if they are receiving benefits, we don't think it's right that they could spend that money on things like gambling, on alcohol, on cigarettes," The Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said.
