PM presenter Evan Davis discusses the subject with Sinn Féin TD Matt Carthy, chair of the Committee on Justice, Home Affairs and Migration in the Irish parliament.
The CTA offers "great advantages to our people on a social and economic level," the Irish government told PM.
"The invisible border on the island of Ireland is among the most tangible gains of the peace process and is essential to the continuing normalisation of relationships," it added.
