Labour MP Sarah Owen praised the result as “monumental”, telling Politics Live: “We need to be able to put forward a vision of hope, which is what people voted for.”
She criticised Prime Minister Keir Starmer, saying he does not “get people”, adding: “If you cannot connect with the country, it doesn’t matter how much you deliver, people will never attribute it to you, and they will never think it was for them.”
Cabinet Office Minister Chris Ward defended the Prime Minister’s record, saying he has delivered for working people.
