This documentary takes you to the final days of World War II on April 21, 1945, when Adolf Hitler orders the evacuation of the Berlin Führerbunker to Berchtesgaden, aiming for the "Alpine Fortress" at Obersalzberg.

But the Allies are closing in, bombing Obersalzberg and cutting off escape routes. The "Alpenhof" hotel at Hintersee becomes the last refuge for prominent Nazi officials and their families, planning their escape to Austria.

Through the memories of eyewitness Gerhard Bartels, the then 13-year-old son of the hotel owner, and quotes from Christa Schroeder's book "He Was My Boss," the documentary sheds light on the dramatic end of the Nazi dictatorship, the occupation by the 101st Airborne Division, and the transformation of Berchtesgaden into a recreation center for U.S. soldiers. A moving chapter of history told from a unique perspective. Subscribe to the channel and activate the bell to stay updated!
