On Monday’s episode of Rachel Maddow’s show, she claimed she got her hands on a bombshell Department of Justice Memo on “Election Year Sensitivities” signed by Merrick Garland. The implication of this supposed ‘bombshell’ document was that the DOJ was not going to prosecute Trump and other co-conspirators because of the midterm elections and the Department of Justice norms against partisan prosecutions during an election year. The problem? Despite the fanfare, this document was a routine, boilerplate DOJ memo. In other words: a nothing burger. Meidas Jordy explains why we can all take a step back and take a breath.
