YouTube Description
as posted by the channel"This one is personal! I've struggled with sleep most of my life and everything I included in this video is what has helped me to understand more about how sleep works and what levers I have that I can pull to make my sleep better.
When I told people I had sleep problems I'd get told to try blackout curtains, or bluelight glasses, or other simple fixes that felt more like bandaids than real solutions. Hopefully this summary of research reviews on the neuroscience of sleep gives a perspective that helps someone get new insight into their own sleep problems.
There are LOTS of things I couldn't include in such a short video. For example caffeine blocks adenosine binding which is why it makes it FEEL like you have more energy even though it really just makes you ignore the fact that you're running out of energy. Such a cool topic and maybe I'll do a separate video on that."
