Friends, just last month I had the opportunity to give a lecture at Charles University in Prague. The focus of my talk was St. Thomas Aquinas' distinctive notion of God as “ipsum esse” and its connection with some of the principal themes of Catholic social teaching. Thomas Aquinas, who is one of my great heroes, was born 800 years ago this year.
