2:48Now PlayingRepublican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, on Wednesday, slammed Donald Trump for the now infamous tweet about about his wife, saying Heidi Cruz would not be intimidated by the GOP frontrunner. (VideoJosiah Ryan )
"She is used to dealing with bullies," said Cruz, citing her business background. "Donald Trump doesn't scare Heidi remotely."
"When he bellows and attacks her she is used to dealing with people who are full of hot air... so it doesn't bother her in the slightest," he continued.
Cruz went on to say that the attack "said a lot" about Trump's character.
A reporter later asked if bringing Heidi Cruz into the conversation was out-of-bounds, given the fact she has campaigned for him, sometimes on her own, across the country.
"Of course not," he said, when asked if Heidi was fair game. "We shouldn't attack each other's wives. We shouldn't attack each other's children and that's gutter politics."
The tussle between the two leading Republican candidates began on Tuesday when Trump suggested he might reveal something embarrassing about Heidi Cruz.
