SYNOPSIS:
Joe Biden is elected vice president of the United States. This chapter examines Joe Biden’s start in politics, his first election, and how the larger Biden family benefited from Joe Biden’s political work. Valerie Biden – Joe’s sister – became a political consultant while his brothers worked to secure government contracts and deals with foreign governments. Hunter Biden became a Washington lobbyist.
Hunter Biden launched Rosemont Seneca Partners in 2009 (months after Joe Biden was inaugurated as vice president) with Chris Heinz and Devon Archer. One of the biggest business deals Rosemont Seneca undertook was with Burisma in Ukraine – while his father was the Obama administration’s point person to the nation.
Rosemont landed deals around the world, with one goal: Work with China. Hunter had no background in China or finance, but that didn’t stop him from meeting with the highest leaders of the Chinese government and business. Many times, his meetings coincided directly with his father’s trips to China.
