as posted by the channel

Part two of my Benjamin Netanyahu documentary series focused on his early career. This looks at his time as opposition leader, his first term as prime minister, and his time as foreign/finance minister in Ariel Sharon’s cabinet. Netanyahu comes into power at a really important time in the peace process, following the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, and the loss of Shimon Peres. He has a large influence over how it proceeds, and given his and Likud’s opposition to the Oslo Accords, it makes sense to have a close look at this period. Also, a lot of the policy moves to which people point in order to demonstrate Netanyahu’s willingness to compromise and commitment to peace happen in this period.

Once again, I will look at figures like Yasser Arafat in their own dedicated videos. This video is focused on Netanyahu, and just because he is the only person I am focused on doesn’t mean other people don’t play an important role.

footage

Most footage is sourced from Associated Press (it takes me a really long time to find), some footage from King Bibi, and some footage from PBS documentary on Netanyahu.

other things

I did the subtitles myself so they may not be perfect, im still learning

There were so many things I didn’t have time to cover in this video: netanyahu’s relationship with the media, the bribery charges brought against him in 1996, the complicated relationship with Jordan following the attempted assassination of Khaled Mishal, his cheating scandal, the years in between being prime minister and being finance minister (not that interesting) AND MORE. I already cut about an hour off this video, so I just can’t cover everything.

- I know there is a bit of the screen missing for the first 15 mins or so. I filmed for close to an hour before I realised and I just….couldn’t refilm. Forgive me. I am trying my best.
