The flare-up marked the latest escalation between the two sides. Gaza’s barrage followed the killing of four Palestinians on Friday by Israel.

Dozens of the rockets fired Saturday were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, according to the military. However, a house in the southern Ashkelon region was struck, a police spokesman said.
Israeli aircraft hit about 30 targets of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the military said, including five Hamas military compounds.
One person was killed in an airstrike in northern Gaza, according to the strip’s health ministry. Delegations from Gaza arrived in Cairo on Thursday for truce talks, as Egyptian mediators have worked to lower tensions between the two side.
