They warned of possible implications of graphic depictions of death by suicide for people struggling with suicide ideation
For the person who is struggling, the identification of someone else who is struggling can draw them in.
Show creator Brian Rorkey tweeted a statement saying the portrayal was meant to "make sure no one would ever wish to emulate it" and says the edit will help the show do "the most good for the most people."
Suicide prevention advocates agree. There are about 1.4 million Americans who attempt but survive their suicide attempt every year.
