4:38Now PlayingPacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) has cut power to about 12,000 customers in parts of Northern California because of potential fire danger.
Butte County is where a wildfire blamed on PG&E transmission lines killed 85 people last year and devastated the town of Paradise.
Public Safety Power Shutoffs for portions of Butte, Yuba, and Plumas counties were confirmed by PG&E.
The utility said it based the decision on the latest weather readings, however, they added that, once the weather subsides and it is safe to turn on the power, crews will patrol power lines, repair damaged equipment, and restore customer's power.Power is expected to be shut off at 10 p.m. Saturday night with an estimated restoration date of Oct. 6.
The following cities and counties are impacted:Butte County (10,235 customers): Berry Creek, Brush Creek, Butte Meadows, Butte Valley, Chico, Cohasset, Feather Falls, Forbestown, Forest Ranch, Magalia, Oroville, Paradise, Paradise Pines, Pulga, Stirling City, Yankee Hill
