1:00Now PlayingThe Piccadilly Theatre in London’s West End was evacuated during a show on the evening of November 6 after a section of plaster fell from the ceiling and onto members of the audience.
The BBC reported that several people were injured, and that some people left the theater covered in debris. The London Fire Brigade said around 1,100 people were evacuated from the building prior to their arrival.
This footage shows crowds outside the theater as it was being evacuated and actor Wendell Pierce talking to fans.
Crowds had packed the theater for Pierce’s performance in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. Following the incident, Pierce thanked audience members for a safe evacuation, apologizing for the unexpected cancellation of the performance, and urging them to come back to see the production.
