Hong Kong's homeless population grew to nearly 2,000 as the coronavirus broke out in late January. 37-year-old Peter Leung lost his job and ended up homeless for weeks as the restaurant he worked for didn’t have business. He reached out to a charity giving out meals and is given a room as his temporary shelter when he volunteers to help other poor people.
As the economy is still suffering, NGOs are calling on the government to make it a priority to care for the homeless people.
